Butterfluent uses Google Analytics and PostHog to measure pageviews and product usage. The Google tag loads with privacy-focused consent defaults set to denied, and full analytics cookies and detailed measurement only start after you choose Accept Analytics. I can reproduce this most often on longer videos with denser subtitle tracks. After scrubbing back and forth a few times, the overlay stops updating even though playback continues.
The study impact is bigger than it sounds because scrubbing is part of the workflow. I scrub when repeating a line, comparing translations, or checking pronunciation.
A recovery path would already help: if sync is lost, surface a small resync action instead of forcing a full refresh.

I hit this mostly on longer interviews. It tends to happen after two or three quick back jumps while repeating a sentence.
The current suspect is the sync loop after seek events. We are tracking this as a study-blocking bug because it hits replay-heavy sessions, not edge-case usage.
